Lincoln-Way East senior Kwaku Appiah was a backup wide receiver last year. He was converted to defense for this season and became a starting cornerback.
Griffins coach Rob Zvonar gave Appiah the chance to play both ways Friday night, and Appiah made the most of the opportunity.
Appiah delivered a 32-yard touchdown catch and returned an interception 33 yards for a TD as host Lincoln-Way East rolled to a 46-7 SouthWest Suburban win over Sandburg.
“I was excited to get to play offense again,” Appiah said. “It’s just up to the coaches, whatever they need me to do. I’m a team guy. I just want to go out and make plays wherever they put me.”
